ONE OF A KIND.

Madison Flitch is available for custom work. We are currently accepting commissions for sculptural art pieces, dining tables, chair sets, and larger coffee tables.

As custom work requires many, many hours of refined, skilled work, we are unable at this time to support commissions for budgets under $5,000.

John Pryor

John is the founder of Madison Flitch. After careers in academia and the tech world in Boston, John moved back home to Kansas City to pursue his dream of creating an artisanal hub that celebrates the natural beauty and local craftsmanship of the midwest. He has over 11 years of experience and possesses a Masters in Woodworking from Marc Adams School of Woodworking.

Megan Pace

Megan Pace is a Kansas City artist and curator for Madison Flitch. In her work she explores themes around the nature of human interactions, female identity, and the tessellation of abstract forms. She enjoys practicing in a variety of media including, but not limited to, ceramics, resin, wood, steel, cast iron, cast bronze and cast aluminum. She earned her BFA with a concentration in sculpture from Georgia’s own Kennesaw State University in 2018, as one of the first of students of the Master Craftsman Program. At Madison Flitch, she is responsible for curating local artist collections for exhibition in our gallery, developing her own collections in several mediums, and training others in the craft techniques required to develop fine art.

Ryan Haney

Ryan is a recent graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute’s sculpture department. Originally from Miami, Florida, Ryan’s work revolves around process-based design. He looks to explore craft through its connection with mental wellness, particularly as it relates to domestic spaces. Most recently, Ryan has been exploring this idea through light vessels, which are made through an intuitive building process. By enveloping interiors with the light of handmade sculptures, he eludes to craft objects as a source of comfort and security. Through his overarching practice, Ryan aims to acknowledge craft as both a private and interpersonal art form.

THE PROCESS

RESEARCH & CONSULTATION

Each engagement begins with a face-to-face meeting or phone discussion. Ideally, this meeting is held at the Madison Flitch showroom or at the client’s location where we can view the final location. Measurements are taken and design concepts are discussed.

DESIGN

After the initial meeting, we produce several design sketches and a detailed price proposal. A $300 design fee is required for full-spec drawings (if the client decides to go forward with the project, the deposit will apply to final payment). A second meeting may be held to discuss the proposal and fine tune design details.

BUILD/REVIEW/REFINE

Once a design has been chosen, several prototypes are developed before construction on the final piece is started. A 50% deposit is required before prototyping begins. During this time, the customer may review final details of the piece and refine the design. The total timeline for a custom piece may range between 6-12 weeks, sometimes even longer for greater concepts.
