Laminated pieces of cherry were sculpted, torched, rubbed with graphite, sealed, and “pinned” with aluminum to a backer board to create dimensionality, negative space, and a stunning interplay of light to recall the forms, textures, and colors of a single burnt wood ember after a campfire.
